You're Business Ain't Broken... You're Just Diggin' in The Wrong Dirt!
Alright, grab a coffee (or somethin’ stronger 😁), ‘cause I’m about to show you why your “garden” ISN’T blooming the way you thought it would, and why that’s ‘kin good news.
Picture this…
You’re hustlin’, waterin’ seeds, throwin’ your back into it, building offers, posting content, tryin’ all the latest “tactics.”
You’re doing everything the “experts” said you should…
And yet?
Instead of standing knee-deep in fresh fruit, you’re lookin’ around at a lot of...
well...
DRY DIRT.
Feels like a gut punch, huh?
But here’s the REAL slap in the face.
👉 It’s NOT the seeds.
👉 It’s NOT your hustle.
👉 And, It’s definitely NOT “you need to try harder.”
(Drum roll)
It’s the soil you’re planting in.
And that soil my friend?
Is your perspective.
Don’t think More Seeds…
Think, Smarter Soil
See, you already planted the good stuff.
You’ve got products. Services. Content. Ideas. Networks. Tools.
(Trust me, your shed's already stacked.)
The problem?
You're tryin’ to force new growth without realizing…
Your real fortune’s buried under what you already built.
Most folks panic when results don't show up fast.
They start throwing new seeds everywhere, new funnels, new launches, new social strategies, new, New, NEW!
Churnin' up more chaos, thinkin’ "more" is the answer.
But more ain’t the move me ole cucumber.
Better soil is.
You don’t need a new offer.
A new audience.
You need to nurture the assets already sitting there, waitin’ to explode 💥
That Lil' Shift Changes EVERYTHING
The second you stop treatin’ your assets like yesterday’s leftovers—and start treatin’ them like buried treasure?
Boom 💥
You pivot from working harder to working smarter.
The shift is simple...
Instead of thinking “What can I add?”
Ask …
“What am I underestimating that’s already mine?”
That old email list?
That dusty course?
That half-forgotten community?
That scrappy little tool I built last year?
They’re NOT dead weight.
They’re a freakin’ goldmine.
You just need a fresher set of eyes, and a little fertilizer (read: smart, simple adjustments), to make ‘em grow wild.
Cultivation Vs Compensation?

Tell me this…
When the garden looks barren, you don’t go dig up the whole thing.
You pull some weeds.
Add better compost.
Water smarter.
And you let the thing breathe.
Same with business.
The key to insane, sustainable growth isn’t in doing more.
It’s in doing less...
...but alignin’ that MOFO!
- Polish your best stuff.
- Repurpose with purpose.
- Tighten up your roots instead of chasing new seeds.
And most importantly...
Trust that slow roots make strong trees.
That’s real empire-building.That’s how you stop sweating every sale and start stacking ‘em like firewood.
So Here’s Your Play…
Today, right now!
Instead of askin’ yourself,
"What’s missing?"
ask...
“What am I already sitting on that deserves better care?”
Then stop thrashing around.
Get quiet.
Get strategic.
Get rooted.
Your garden’s not empty.
It’s loaded.
You’re just one mindset shift away from watching it BLOOM!
Really enjoyed your take on how sneaky false assumptions can trip us up. I’m still pretty green in this space, so a couple of things I’m curious about:
When you spot a knee‑jerk assumption forming, what quick reset works best for you—stepping back for more data or asking someone to sanity‑check it?
Have you found any simple cues (like a recurring emotion or phrase) that signal an assumption might be sliding in under the radar?
I love the idea of treating feedback like an antivirus scan for the mind. Feels way less intimidating than a full “belief overhaul” and probably keeps blind spots from stacking up.
Thanks for the food for thought!
Hey Bob,
Love that you’re digging into the post!
Great questions, so let’s unpack ’em.
When I feel that knee-jerk assumption pop up, I usually hit pause and take a few deep breaths.
Step back and see if I’m making sense.
Sometimes, it’s a quick data check.
“Hey, does this feel right to you?”
Other times, I’ll bounce it off someone.
‘Cause…
That outside perspective can be great when I’m about to run off on a tangent (and I often do)
As for those sneaky cues?
Oh, I’ve got a few.
Anytime I catch myself getting defensive or feeling like I’ve got to be “right,” that’s when I know an assumption’s sliding in under the radar.
Also, I tend to say things like, “I’m sure this is the way it is,” and that’s when I know I’m in my head too much.
It’s like my brain’s trying to shortcut to the answer, and that’s when I know to pump on those brakes.
And I’m with you on the antivirus scan thing.
It’s way less intimidating than a full “change everything” overhaul.
Those quick check-ins to make sure blind spots don’t start stacking up, that’s the key.
Anyways, enough of me…
Thanks for the thoughtful comment, Bob!
Keep questioning and trust yourself, it’s a much better journey.

Loved this post, Dedo!
Your analogy of tending to our business like a garden resonated with me.
It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes, the key to growth isn’t about planting more seeds but nurturing the soil we’ve already cultivated.
In the hustle of entrepreneurship, it’s easy to overlook the assets we’ve built, be it an old email list, a past course, or a dormant community.
Your insight into “repurpose with purpose” and “tighten up your roots” is both refreshing and actionable.
Thank you for this timely reminder to pause, reassess, and appreciate the value in what we already have. Here’s to cultivating smarter and watching our gardens bloom!
Warm regards,
Alice
Hey Alice,
You dropped a whole bouquet of insight here… thank you!
And you’re bang on…
… so much of what we’re chasing is already sitting quietly in our garden, just waiting for us to look again… NOT with urgency, but reverence.
‘Cause, as you know, repurposing isn’t about squeezing more out of what we’ve built, it’s about realigning with the reason we built it in the first place.
(What’s our customers’ “PRESENT” pain, something that’s constantly on their minds (eatin’ away at their soul) when they’re tryin’ to sleep)
Our old email lists, half-finished courses, dormant communities… they’re not dead weight.
They’re root systems. And when we water them with fresh attention and honest intention?
They bloom again.
Sometimes even better.
Anyways, enough of my ramblings…
Appreciate you sharing this.
And here’s to cultivating with clarity and letting that buried treasure see the light of day.

This piece powerfully reframes the common struggle of business growth. It argues that often, the lack of desired results isn’t due to a fundamental flaw in one’s offerings or efforts, but rather a misdirection of focus. The metaphor of digging in the wrong dirt brilliantly illustrates this point. Instead of constantly seeking new strategies and resources (“more seeds”), the emphasis should be on cultivating and leveraging existing assets (“smarter soil”).
The discussion encourages introspection, urging individuals to identify and nurture the overlooked potential within their current network, content, and tools. This shift from acquisition to optimization can lead to more sustainable and impactful growth. By focusing on refining and repurposing what already exists, businesses can work smarter, not just harder, ultimately uncovering the “buried treasure” they’ve already accumulated.
Phil
Phil – this is such a thoughtful reflection, thank you.
And you’re bang on…
It’s not always about planting more, it’s about noticing where the roots already want to take hold.
So many people chase growth by adding layers… when the real leverage is already there, quietly waiting to be seen and used.
That shift…
…from seeking more to cultivating smarter, is subtle but powerful.
And when we learn to trust the soil we’ve already worked, we stop burning energy chasing the next fix… and start building from existing assets..
Appreciate you digging into this (pun fully intended).
You’ve clearly felt the shift yourself.
