The Struggle Bunnies

Calming The Wrestling Bunnies Of Your Mind!

Have You Noticed?

Peeps have a shit load of conflict goin’ on in their heads…
Every-waking-moment of their lives.

(It’s why personal development is such a popular business bunny).

Thing is…

Under the radar the industry could be hurting you and your brain.

Let me explain.

When you were little, I bet you didn’t give a frig what people thought of you?
If your hair looked like it was brushed with a toffee apple.

So what!

Your trousers were hangin’ and your shoes were fallin’ from your feet…

NO worries.

You had a big bogie hangin’ out your bugle!

EAT ME dickwad.

Right up until some smart-ass laid out rules for you to live “under.”

You know the ones?

Ideals…
(them ones)

To be pretty
To be smart
To be rich
To be popular
To have abs, buns, eyes, lips, blah blah blah!

(that sounded a lot like the noise sheep make)

These are the ideals that have been pushed.
Dished out by “good” meaning folk, who’ve only your
best interests at heart (REALLY)

Trouble is…

If these ideals don’t match “reality” you’re fked!
I mean proper fked like ze Germans! (phrase from a movie BTW, so don’t go all PC on my arse)

Once an ideal is repeated often… it forms a belief.
And these beliefs are what keep us up at night when our “ideals” don’t match “reality”

(Cognitive Dissonance)

Yah get me?

These bunnies form the beliefs which are off the radar… invisible… NOT conscious

That knot in your gut.
Face flushin’ up.
Sweaty palms.
Wantin’ repeatedly to go toilet.
Mind zoning out.
Butterflies in your tum-tum
And so many more simple symptoms…

But riddle me this…

How do you get rid of those cute little bunnies?
And do you really want to?

Or do you learn to live with them?

  • Hi Dedo

A unique article indeed. The way its written… again, very unique.

And how the message is delivered –  you’ve got it… UNIQUE!

I think these things happen to us because of the manner we’re raised or could be the environment we find ourselves.

    I read a book “Willpower Doesn’t Work”.

And in this book they say environment changes you. Something to ponder.

Go read the book and discover.

    Thank you for sharing

    Richard

    • Richard!

Thanks for stoppin’ by my friend.

And love how you thought my style was… hmm, unique (means a lot)

The book you mentioned “Willpower Doesn’t Work.”

Just had a little gander, and must say it’s an eye opener.

Full of “new” idea-bunnies… on how to travel life and cross it’s many hurdles.

And I agree with loads he’s saying.

      Because…

As with any “idea,” they’ll all make sense.

More to some than others (it’s the nature of the beast huh?)

Those little bunnies, once they start matin’…

      …there’s NO stoppin’ ’em! 🙃

    • Wow, Marios!

I’ve either been inundated with the incessant power of A.I. –  or I’m fortunate to have some REAL authentic writers on board.

      Ether way, I’m flippin cartwheels!

So, thanks for stoppin’ by to leave such a detailed treatise of my work.

And like I’ve mentioned to Chris Suckling…

Any time I make even a little impact – it’s a home run for me. So, many thanks.

      Have a great day.

  • You hit the nail on the head regarding the constant struggle many of us face with the “wrestling bunnies” in our minds. It’s refreshing to see someone address the pervasive conflict that often goes unnoticed beneath the surface of personal development narratives.

The analogy of childhood innocence versus the imposition of societal ideals is spot on. We’re bombarded with expectations about how we should look, behave, and achieve, which can lead to a profound disconnect between our authentic selves and these external standards.

The insight into how these ideals shape our beliefs and contribute to cognitive dissonance is both enlightening and relatable. It’s a reminder that the stress and anxiety we experience are not simply random occurrences but are deeply rooted in these subconscious beliefs.

As for the question posed at the end – whether we should aim to eliminate these “bunnies” or learn to coexist with them – I believe it’s a matter of perspective. While striving for inner peace and acceptance is noble, it’s also essential to challenge the unrealistic standards imposed upon us and cultivate a mindset that prioritizes self-love and authenticity.

    • Chris… WOW!

Not only am I glad you enjoyed my musings, but – fk sake, what a response.

You’ve dissected (in detail) the message I was communicating, and with such clarity and professionalism.

      Listen…

If I can help even one person open their eyes to how damaging certain programmng can be in our lives… I’m a happy bunny!

And with the comment you’ve left…

      “mission bunny complete”.

      Have a great day Chris

  • Ideal this! Ideal that!

Who sets these standards, and who should?

    Really…

who should set what’s ideal for me? Provided I am not out to hurt the next dude, why, as an adult, should I live by other people’s codes of conduct?

Your post took me down memory lane to the days when it was making some ‘important’ guys in my life happy, that made me happy.

And if they were unhappy with me, I was generally upside down.  But I have grown up a bit now, and the value system I choose to live by now is my choice and mine only.

Don’t get me wrong, no one is an island, and there are great influencers out there (like you) whose words (written or spoken) are a good tonic for the mind.

I can’t remember when I last felt starred up like this after reading a post online. Nice one, Dedo.

    • Oluseyi!

Thanks for makin’ such an impact my friend.

(wow, you know how to vent your ‘motions… Kudos to you).

And you won’t know this Oluseyi, but the reason I wrote the message is because

over the yrs I’ve noticed MOST people I listen to

      deal with similar “hidden” pains.

Pains that weren’t there before a certain age.

      And it’s a shame.

      Because we all have so

much more to offer, if only we weren’t victim to the chains of “status quo”

      …and all it’s limitations.

Have a great day my friend.

      Always in your corner.
