"How To Price My Work as a Freelancer?"
Well, first off the bat...
DON'T set yourself up as a COMMODITY!
(Like everyone else and their dawg)
IGNORE what I'm saying and you'll forever be bartering your services based on all the desperado's scrambling for the leftover crumbs dropped from the MAIN table...
(the table you wanna be banqueting at)
In other words you'll be priced as a WHOLE based on the lowest common denominator.
Fk THAT!
Here's what you wanna do...
Discover ONE Special (ad-on) Skill That You Can Use To Elevate Your Postion To The MAIN Table!
So...
Are you ready?
Here goes...
But first, let's lay out some foundations or context so you feel comfortable when dining with the champions.
First question - What comes to mind when I say the word "society"?
Or what about "the economy"?
I bet you thought similar meanings to most people, and if you didn't know... you could just reach for the dictionary and find out.
And we'd all be on the SMAE page!
It's the "SAME" page that's the problem.
Especially when we want to seperate ourselves from the scrambling crowd.
Listen...
We've been trained to think the same so the "economy" can work like it does, and without me rambling on in depth how this works.
To save sh*t tons of time and energy, just press the "I BELIEVE" button.
REALLY...
If you want to sit at the MAIN table and NOT spend your life scurrying around for crumbs, keep reading 'cause this is gonna blow your 'kin socks off!
Whatever you're freelancing at... rather than get better, doin' the same shiz (this don't really work when you're a commodity).
Find ONE thing your "Client" will bend over backwards to grab'a-hold-of!
Example...
If you're a copywriter, look at one of your prospects web-sites and think of a way you can dramatically improve their readership.
I used to use this code: javascript:document.body.contentEditable = ‘true’; document.designMode=’on’; void 0
Copy and paste it into my bookmarks tab, and hey presto - Jump on any website, edit it, take a snap, and send it to a prospect. (A new and improved version).
Do this a few times and just wait for the response.
As long as you've provided tip-top value... you'll get folk bangin' down your door!
The trick is...
To give before you take - 'cause beggars or needy folk don't get to sit at the MAIN table.
EVER!
Give me a shout if this idea resonates with you...
Great post! I love the emphasis on avoiding the “commodity trap” and elevating oneself to the MAIN table. The idea of discovering and leveraging one special add-on skill is a game-changer. It’s all about standing out and providing value that others aren’t offering.
The analogy of society and the economy operating on the “SAME” page is a thought-provoking perspective. Breaking away from the herd mentality is crucial for those aiming to thrive rather than just survive in their freelancing endeavors.
The practical example for copywriters is brilliant. Offering a tangible and impactful improvement to a prospect’s website readership is not only valuable but also showcases initiative and creativity. The “give before you take” philosophy is a timeless principle that resonates well, emphasizing the importance of building genuine relationships and providing substantial value to clients.
Overall, this post serves as a motivational and actionable guide for freelancers looking to level up in their careers. Thanks for sharing these insights!
Hey Herman!
Great to have you back, my friend, and thanks for takin’ the time to drop off such a well-thought-out response to my musings ; )
Because…
And get this…
What I’ve discovered through the years – is people dancing to a similar tune.
A cult -ural tune – A societal tune…
Following a virtual “pied-piper” to the bottom of the deep HOLE of demise.
I know that sounds dramatic.
But, it seems to be getting worse with the introduction of “AI.”
Don’t get me wrong…
I think AI is a valuable tool.
A tool to enhance your thinking, NOT replace it (I’m not “anti” anything)
And this is one of the reasons for posting my message, to try and wake folk up to the dangers of NOT using their analytical faculties to discern reality.
“NOT a reality painted by perception.”
Anyway…
‘nough of my ramblings.
Stand out from the crowd Herman, paint your perception (write YOUR story), and…
Have a great day, my friend.

P.S. Even when writing this note, I’ve had Grammarly continually “correcting me,” AHUM!
And although it’s a useful “tool,” I still use MY voice to share ME (If that makes sense?)
P.P.S. ya gotta know where to put the commas and stuff huh?
Hey, love the energy in your freelancing advice!
The “I BELIEVE” button cracked me up, but seriously, breaking free from the crowd is genius. Your tip for copywriters is 💡—that code trick is like a superpower!
Got me wondering, have you applied these strategies personally?
Any cool stories or successes to share? I’m itching to try this out and want to hear more about real-life experiences.
Hey Stratos!
Nice to see you again me ‘ole friend.
And to your question about me using these strategies personally…
It’s an ethos I’ve carried with me for decades, ever since reading some of Jay Abrahams stuff.
For example…
Most people “ask” for someone to hire them…
(cold outreach)
whereas my strategy (for prospects) is to dig DEEP into their “pains” (something that keeps them up at night)…
… provide a little taster of my (problem solving) services for FREE, and if they likey…
It’s up to them if THEY wanna “reach out to ME.”
But, you’ll love this…
I don’t do the client, employee relationship anymore.
It’s more a partnership stance.
Hope this helps Stratos, because it’s a philosophy that works… try it yourself and you’ll see!
Have a great day.
Always in your corner…

P.S: My way is FAR less stressful!
